Hello Threshodlers and Threshold Community,
We are approaching the first election epoch of the year for the Threshold DAO, marking the end of the current term for the Threshold Council and a portion of the Guild Committees.
As you know, the elections for our Guild Committees and Council have a standard election period typically occurring between February 1st and February 28th, and the new term starting on March 1st. This schedule has ensured in the past smooth transitions and knowledge continuity in our guilds’ structure, aligning with Council general elections.
However, this year marks a pivotal moment for our DAO with the approval of TIP-098, the proposal of TIP-100 and the launch of tLabs. These developments bring significant opportunities for the Threshold DAO but also necessitate a restructuring of our DAO structures and processes to better align with our evolving priorities. There is a DAO restructure committee that is are currently working to provide a recommendation for the envisioned new DAO structure to our tokenholders for approval.
To ensure a smooth and effective transition to the new DAO structure, we kindly request the Guilds and Council to extend their current terms by up to 4 weeks beyond the standard term expiration date. This extension will provide the necessary time to design, discuss, and approve the updated DAO structure without disrupting ongoing operations or governance processes.
Next Steps
- We invite the community to share feedback and engage in discussions regarding this proposal. We envision a community call in the next days to share our financial report, that will bring clarity to our discussions.
- Once a consensus is reached on the future structure of Threshold DAO, we will post an update as a comment on this forum thread, including the revised timeline and the anticipated date for the next elections.
- In the event that the DAO restructuring process, including its governance adjustments, extends beyond March 1st, we commit to providing weekly progress reports and updated timelines until the elections are held. We will ensure that the delay does not exceed the maximum extension of 4 weeks for the elections to take place.
These are exciting times for Threshold! We encourage our contributors and community members to stay actively engaged, ensuring that all voices are heard and well represented as we shape the future of Threshold together.
