GP-041 Establishing a Community Manager Role for Enhanced DAO Engagement

Overview:

This proposal seeks to establish a Community Manager role within the Threshold Network DAO, led by Citizen42 (@mcitizen42) on a 15-hour per week basis. As the DAO undergoes restructuring to optimize operations and governance, this role seeks to increase community engagement, communication, and representation through various initiatives.

The Community Manager will act as a key link between the Threshold DAO, tLabs, its members and the broader crypto ecosystem, ensuring smooth coordination and effective community support.

The Community Manager role would oversee community engagement, DAO representation, and education efforts. This role will increase DAO engagement by restarting regular community calls and actively engaging other protocols and communities that use tBTC, such as Mezo and Acre. By inviting representatives from other projects to our own community calls, community engagement will grow naturally and organically. This role would further aid in facilitating direct communication between the DAO and tLabs, organizing AMAs and workshops and providing education on the practical use cases of tBTC. Additionally, moderation and community support will be included as needed to maintain a well-organized and informative environment.

Why This Role is Needed:

Maintaining engagement and structured communication is essential as the DAO adapts to a new operational model. This role will ensure community members remain informed and actively participate in governance and discussions by regularly addressing proposals and the state of governance during community calls. With the increasing focus on expanding the adoption of tBTC, a dedicated role will facilitate smoother coordination between the DAO, tLabs, its contributors and all external partners.

A community-driven approach to DeFi education will further strengthen Threshold Network’s positioning by providing structured workshops, fostering integrations and enhancing overall awareness.

The Community Manager will also support DAO representation at industry AMAs further ensuring Threshold Network remains an active participant in the broader crypto ecosystem.

Why Citizen42?

I have been an active contributor to Threshold DAO, playing an active role in integrations, governance and community engagement. As a member of the Integration Guild and thUSD Steering Committee, I have helped drive ecosystem partnerships, participate in liquidity strategies discussion and bridge communication between DAOs.

With deep experience in DeFi and tBTC use cases, I have driven efforts on expanding adoption through integrations, educational content and hands-on community support.

My ability to connect technical concepts with real-world applications combined with my active engagement in DAO operations, makes me well-suited to lead community efforts. This role will allow me to strengthen Threshold’s presence, ensuring informed participation and deeper ecosystem collaboration.

Role Details & Responsibilities:

The Community Manager will focus on running community calls, representing the DAO at events that could further enhance integrations, coordinating discussions between the DAO and tLabs, hosting educational workshops and assisting with moderation and community engagement where necessary. This role is designed to ensure ongoing alignment between community-driven initiatives and the DAO’s broader strategic direction.

A key part of this position will be organizing structured educational content around tBTC, guiding users on yield opportunities, integrations and other use cases.

The Community Manager will also facilitate AMAs and public discussions, ensuring that Threshold Network’s products and governance remain transparent and accessible to all.

Compensation & Commitment:

A reasonable time budget for this position has proven to be a slight challenge due to the unique nature of the Threshold community and the impending restructuring via TIP-098 and the brand-new TIP-100. I propose a starting budget of 15 hours per week with weekly time tracking and evaluation for 3 months, at which point the time budget will be reviewed and adjusted accordingly. The compensation structure will be aligned with DAO-approved budgets for contributor roles.

Expected Impact & Review Process:

In the first three months, the focus will be on establishing a consistent community engagement structure. This will include launching recurring calls, increasing educational outreach and improving communication between the DAO and the community. The effectiveness of the role will be evaluated based on participation metrics, engagement growth and feedback from DAO members.

The Community Manager role will bring structure, engagement and representation to the DAO’s evolving framework. As Threshold Network continues to grow, having a dedicated individual to coordinate discussions, drive education and enhance participation will significantly contribute to the DAO’s long-term success.

I’m fully on board with this. As the DAO is going thru some seismic shifts right now, structured engagement, education, and coordination are critical.

Some specific thoughts:

  • Community calls as a real touchpoint. Not just updates, but a space for cross-DAO discussion (Mezo, Acre, etc.). I’d love to bring in some assistance to this and help with the distribution and summary of these as well, something I’ve done in the past with FreeRossDAO and other orgs. Publishing these meeting notes is a good component to a content marketing strategy, one of the things on my plate.
  • Bridging the DAO and tLabs. Keeps communication structured, preventing silos as we expand. Citizen is familiar with the shape of things here and makes a good coordinator as we shift.
  • Structured education. tBTC has top-tier infra, but guided workshops will massively improve adoption. I’ve been developing some channel marketing workshops that have seen some good reception thus far, and would love to see this expanded and made public as part of the ongoing content strategy.

Citizen is already doing this work—formalizing it makes sense.

More engagement, clearer communication, and stronger integrations—good for Threshold. Let’s do it.

Thank you @rizzn for your support and feedback, it is much appreciated. I agree its a must needed step for the DAO to remain engaged with the community and love your point about summary and distribution offering, I’ve seen some of your work in action on our thUSD Steering Committee meetings and those summaries look detailed and to the point.

In light off all TIPs ongoing and current focus to allow tLabs formation will wait patiently for more feedback and time so the DAO is confident in a path of progression and can offer a Yey to the above.

Exciting times and look forward to next steps.
