GP-040 Threshold Marketing Guild Nominations Election - Epoch 6, 2024

Hello Threshold community!

Following the procedure stated in GP-11 / TIP-031 regulating the Guild Committee Elections and Nominations, we open the nominations for the elections of the Marketing Guild Committee Members.

In this 6th epoch we vote 4 seats. These 4 seats correspond to the members that were elected in August 2023 elections , i.e., Ashley - MrsNU, Ryan Caruso, John Packel and MJS. For a complete review of the elections timelines, number of seats and community members elected, see this Notion space.

The MG seats are currently held by community members:

We encourage everyone to participate and provide their nominations, any DAO member can be nominated for an upcoming guild committee seat, including self-nominations. Bear in mind that a person who is nominated by another member must confirm their intent to be a candidate.

Focus of our Marketing Guild

The Threshold Marketing Guild is responsible for general Threshold marketing across services, growing our network of contributors, onboarding new members to the Threshold DAO, educating people about the Threshold’s value, services and use cases, and more.

Timeline for the Elections

  1. July 29th - August 12th - Nomination period, where you can nominate yourself or nominate another member of the community by replying to this forum post.
  2. August 12th, 3pm ET - Community Call to meet our nominees. We have traditionally held a call to meet our nominees and allow them to introduce themselves to the community and explain why they are running for our guilds. This time, we will make use of this allotted time in the case we have new candidates participating.
  3. August 12th - August 18th - Snapshot vote.
  4. August 19th - August 31st - Transition period: onboarding and multisig swaps.
  5. September 1st, 2024 - The new term starts for the elected members, which will serve 1-year term: September 1st 2024 - August 31st 2025.

What do I need to become a Threshold Network Guild Committee Member?

Becoming a committee member would be easy and smooth, the elections of the guilds are staggered, thus you will have a good onboarding experience led by your peers. To be part of our guilds, we request our members to own a hardware wallet. While prior knowledge and experience with multisigs on mainnet, L2’s, and Solana/Base networks are beneficial, they are not mandatory.

I’d like to take this opportunity to nominate @rizzn for a seat on the marketing guild committee. I have known Mark for several years and would be thrilled to work alongside him for the DAO. Mark is a talented individual with well over a decade of multi-media marketing, journalism, and tech experience. Mark also loves coffee.

I also support the nominations of @MrsNuBooty, @Carusosa, and @JohnPackel (in no particular order) - all three have a long track record of dedication to the Threshold DAO.

Thousand thanks, @vict0r ! I appreciate the nomination, and look forward to expanding my role in both consultation and contribution to marketing activities!

For those who don’t know me well, my DAO alumn bonafides include FreeRossDAO, UkraineDAO, FreeOpsDAO. I enjoy creating crypto and AI centric educational content, and have consistently been on that path since 2011.

Hi all,

after some consideration I would like to nominate myself for this role within the marketing guild. I have decided this on the basis of previous contributions within MG (mostly centred around research of competitors). I have thoroughly enjoyed working with some of the talented key players within the guild and I’m hungry to contribute more.

I have very recently commenced my term within the thUSD steering committee, so it will be great to knit those roles nicely together and continue to contribute in new and exciting ways!

Whilst my full time occupation is within another industry, I’m determined to fully pivot into the wonderful world of web3 whilst bringing my experiences along for the ride with me.

Thank you.

I’d like to nominate myself, @Wailoaloa .

I’ve been involved in Threshold network since the Playing for Keeps promotion in April 2020, and have held my tokens (KEEP, then migrated to T) since then.

Regarding Marketing Guild management
I have over a decade of experience in business development, marketing and communications in and out of crypto.
I am the co-founder of Shinsei Galverse which is one of Japan’s biggest NFT projects. We built its audience 0-1 with $0 marketing spend and it has since run over $20m in secondary trading and volume.
I manage multiple marketing and sales channels across web2 and web3 social accounts, run IRL and online events, sponsorships, onboarding for DAOs and web3 communities, and commission, script and scope video content for my own project.

I work fulltime in web3, have been into crypto lightly since 2014 and seriously since 2017, am chronically online, fully doxxed, and have a great network across the crypto space.

I am based in Australia in an Asia Pacific timezone with a great crypto network across Australia, Japan, Europe, the US, and most of Asia.

Victor beat me to it, but I second the nomination of @rizzn.

@MrsNuBooty and I have been working with Mark as he is a very strong candidate for the new marketing role* given broad and deep marketing experience. The guild would definitely benefit from having him on the committee.

I am also happy to accept the nomination, thank you. If elected, I look forward to continuing to find ways to elevate our marketing and operate the guild/committee.

  • We will announce the hire very soon.

I would like to accept Ryan’s nomination and run for another term on the MGC.

I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions that both @JohnPackel and @Carusosa have made. I encourage governance participants continue to support them, as they are integral to the success of Threshold marketing.

It is great to see so many new faces and candidates. I encourage anyone else who is interested to self-nominate.
